It changed my life. And since my personal, creative, professional lives are integrated into one, the program changed almost every aspect of my life. Also the program introduced a significant academic piece and complement to my personal, creative and professional life. The knowledge and insights I acquired during the MACL program make me a better illustrator, teacher and academic. I am grateful for the many generous colleagues and friends who have enriched my personal life. Truly working on my master’s was the most fun I’ve ever had. And it was so much fun that I never wanted it to stop so I went on to work on a doctorate. It is hard, demanding and humbling. But because of my MACL experience I will hopefully make a contribution to the scholarship of the picturebook. The MACL gave me the joy, the fun, the enthusiasm and the intellectual curiosity to inspire me to do the PhD and to withstand its rigours.
