Bonnie Tulloch receives 2014 Ronald Jobe Scholarship in Children’s Literature

Bonnie is a second year student in the MACL program. She has already distinguished herself in the Children’s Literature field, making presentations at the UBC Research Day, the UBC graduate student conference in children’s literature and the Children’s Literature Association in South Carolina.

In 2013 Bonnie received the Frances E. Russell award from IBBY Canada, which enabled her to pursue a research project on islands in Canadian children’s literature, including interviewing several authors.

Currently she is working on her thesis, which will reflect her delight in nonsense poetry. She will focus on the poetry of Dennis Lee, Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss and consider others, as well.

Bonnie is actively involved in B.C. Children’s Hospital’s Balding for Dollars project, with rhymed picture books.
